Why Invest in Pupils

The Investors in Pupils award was originally created by Cathlene Paul the then Deputy Headteacher at Royal Park Primary School in Leeds.

It was piloted in primary schools through funding from the Leeds Training and Enterprise Council before being revised by the TEC in 2000.

The Learning and Skills Council in West Yorkshire took over responsibility for the award in 2001 and funded its delivery across the sub-region until 2006 when the LSC asked the five Education Authorities in West Yorkshire to take over the delivery of the award on the LSC’s behalf.

The Education Authority partnership provides consultancy, support and assessment for the award. It is non-profit making and utilises the revenue to support and develop the award.

Each local authority in West Yorkshire provides support and recognises the achievement of schools in their Local Authority.

The Partnership are currently rolling out Investors in Pupils across the country.  Primary schools in London, Norfolk, Rochdale, North Yorkshire and East Yorkshire now have the standard along with the first North Yorkshire secondary school the Schoolgirl Mum Unit in Hull.
